Aram Tanis (1978, Seoul/South Koreea) studied photography in The Netherlands and exhibited all around the world including at Reclaim Photography Festival (Dudley / UK), Siemens Sanat (Istanbul / TR), Gallery Korea (New York / USA), Kunstverein Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf / DE), Frontviews (Berlin / DE), Ambika P3 (London / UK) and Frankfurter Kunstverein (Frankfurt / DE).
Besides exhibiting his work he also curates shows, designs websites, creates photo books and works in assignment. He also started his photoblog Binding Image in 2007.
While creating these works for 5 Pieces Gallery, Aram Tanis studied the Japanese woodblock prints extensively. Japanese woodblock prints are known for their flat colour areas, strong lines, striking diagonals, the horizon that is placed high or not present at all and zooming in on details from nature.
