Boris Sirka
Boris Sirka (1981, Snina/Slovakia) is one of the key figures of the rising generation, one of the most prominent Slovakian painters after 2000. He graduated the Faculty of Arts at the Technical University in Kosice in the studio of Graphic and experimental creation. Boris Sirka is an Oskar Čepan Award finalist and participated in many important exhibitions.
Boris Sirka's work is known for sophisticated and distinctive stylized figurative work, but also for his intervals in which he change themes but also medium (painting, object, site-specific installation, animation, video art, sound art). His paintings and their development can be perceived as cycles that are still in the move. He focuses on the mysterious motives with terrifying atmosphere, usually supported by figural scenes. There are feelings of fear, uncertainity, based on the seemingly serene compositions. Boris Sirka handles various scenes associated with the dark side of human beeing but their final submission gives the viewer respect and reflection..
